Luxury British clothing brand Burberry has appointed a new design director - Christopher Bailey, former Gucci supremo.
The ex-Gucci man takes over from Roberto Menichetti, who helped turn the classic brand founded in 1856, into a powerful fashion name.
Bailey, 30, had been a senior designer at Gucci since 1996. Prior to that, he worked as a designer at Donna Karan.
Bailey, who has an MA from the Royal College of Art, will be based at Burberry's in-house design studio in the Haymarket, London.
He will have a particular focus on the Prorsum designer range. Burberry London, the brand's core range, will continue to be designed by the in-house team.
Bailey's predecessor, Roberto Menichetti, extended the Burberry range to ball gowns and other clothing.
The new-look brand has since been worn by rock stars, royalty and top models like Kate Moss who was snapped wearing a Burberry bikini.
